Hi
I was wondering if the docx format is/will ever be supported? I couldn't find anything on the website/forum/google on this subject.
The template guide states the following :
'Docmosis supports a wide range of versions (MS Word 97 onwards, OpenOffice.org Writer 2.2 onwards).'
However, when I create a new template in word 2007, and use docmosis to merge with my xml-datasource, it returns the mergefields as plain text.
When I save the same document as word 97-2003 (.doc), it works like a charm.
Did i miss anything, or am i correct in assuming it's just not yet supported?
Right now I use a VBA macro to save all docx-files as doc-files. I would ofcourse prefer for the files to stay in the extension they're being supplied.
Hoping for a quick response
Kind regards

Hello Matthias.
DocX is not currently supported as a template. DocX support is improving and we expect to be able to support this as a template (as well as an output source) in early 2011.
Hi again
'Early 2011' has already passed, and I'm wondering if you have a better estimate of when docx will be supported as both an input/output format? Right now I have to convert my templates from docx -> doc, let docmosis do its thing, then convert from doc -> docx... Would be really helpful if I could skip this step in the process!
Also, can you tell me if - and when? - footnote support will be added? This is another issue on my list. Right now I have to filter the footnotes out with docx4j, something I would love to eliminate as well :-)
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Matthias
Hello Matthias.
The docX support is still pending - we are waiting it to improve in OpenOffice or LibreOffice which we thought would be better by this time. Footnote insertion is a challenge and not currently scheduled.
Though I should say that footnotes are still relatively high on the priority list.
Any idea or estimate when docx will be supported?
Regards
Matthias
Hello Matthias.
DocX support in LibreOffice appears to have progressed ahead of OpenOffice. To decide what will work for you, please use the latest version of OpenOffice or LibreOffice to read your DocX templates and save as DocX output (and PDF if that is a requirement of your system). If these conversions are good enough for your needs, then we will release a new version of Docmosis that provides DocX capabilities.
